And though salary growth has slowed in the past year, industry employment surveys show that IT remains a good career bet. That should be heartening for new college graduates looking to enter the field at a time when the financial industry and others are being hit by the country's poor economy. "What we're seeing is a very active [IT] market," said Tom Silver, senior vice president of marketing and customer support at Dice Holdings Inc. in New York. "It still has employment rates that are much better than overall rates." 5/3/2008 We have just published the schedule for an evening Project Management Professional ( PMP ) class. New evening hours will allow working professionals to pursue their PMI PMP certification after work. For more information, check out the May-June PMP class for professionals schedule HERE. 4/1/2008 (This is NOT an April fools joke) New Computer Training and Certification Program Starts in the near future. 3/7/2008 CompTIA Releases Study on Skills Gaps in the IT Workforce. The IT industry is constantly evolving. In order to gain a better understanding of trends and gaps in worldwide IT skills, CompTIA commissioned the Center for Strategy Research, Inc., a Boston-based market research firm, to conduct a survey among organizations worldwide to identify IT skills gaps and solutions to close these gaps. Some of the highlights of this study are:
2/29/2008 Happy Leap Year! We are Looking for a few OUTSTANDING computer training trainers. If you are one of the select few - and you want to work in Virginia Beach ( full-time employment or part-time jobs ) be sure to check out our " help wanted " page HERE. 2/3/2008 Mark Minasi is coming to Virginia Beach! Mark Minasi is coming to Virginia Beach! If you're asking "who is Mark who?" you've been living in a vacuum - if you are a computer nerd. Mark is probably second only to the fabled Bill Gates, in his circles. MOST of the time, it costs about $500 per day to get training from Mark - but this entire 4-day seminar/forum meeting (including one dinner) is only $450. If you can make it to the beachfront Sunday April 20, 2008 thru Wed April 23, look into this one! Check out his announcement at http://web2.minasi.com/forummeet2008/. This will probably be about many things, but you can expect it to be heavy on Windows Server 2008, Vista, Microsoft Exchange 2007, Windows Home Server ( WHS ) and lots of other stuff. If for no other reason, come just to network with all of the professionals in this part of the country - who will probably be there. It will be at the Virginia Beach Resort and Conference Center (on the Ocean View Side of the beach). Also check out Mark's latest newsletter here: http://www.minasi.com/newsletters/nws0801.htm. He has some neat tricks about how to clone a Vista machine onto a larger hard disk (and back it up, using the new WBADMIN command for backup). Microsoft Second Shot for Microsoft certification exams has been extended until June 30, 2008. If you want to take advantage of this incentive program, you should get your training started NOW! -- OR -- If you try once, and don't do well with self-study, you may want to sign up for instructor-led classroom computer training, before using the 2nd shot. For more information on the Microsoft Exam Second Shot program, see the following links: http://www.microsoft.com/learning/mcp/offers/secondshot/default.mspx http://www.microsoft.com/learning/mcp/offers/2ndchance/faq/default.mspx HyperLearning Technologies has been selected, for the 2nd year in a row for the coveted "Microsoft Certified Partner for Learning Solutions" (CPLS). There are dozens of "computer training" companies in the area - but only two with the CPLS endorsement. HyperLearning Technolgies is your Microsoft Certified computer training company! Is It Too Late to Earn a Windows Server 2003 Certification? The answer is "no." The strength of Windows Server 2003 in the market today indicates that demand for IT-related expertise will continue for years to come. The best way to demonstrate that you have those skills is with the Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA) and Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) credentials. These certifications will not change or retire with the release of Windows Server 2008. MCSA and MCSE will continue to be recognized and supported by Microsoft, and will be valued by organizations seeking skilled professionals on the Windows Server 2003 infrastructure all over the world. In the future, you can leverage your Windows Server 2003 certification for a shortened path to Windows Server 2008 certifications, when that makes sense for you. REMINDER: The Microsoft Windows Server 2003 MCSA and MCSE upgrade exams will be retired March 31, 2008. If you plan on upgrading - do it now! THERE WILL BE NO UPGRADE PATH TO WINDOWS 2008, EXCEPT FOR CERTIFIED WINDOWS 2003 MCSA and MCSE. Quick add-on 70-291 MCSA MCSE bootcamp has been added from Jan 14 2008 to Jan 26. This class ( Implementing, Managing & Maintaining Windows Server 2003 Infrastructure: Network Services & Network Hosts) will meet from 5:30 PM to 10:00 PM on M-W-F and 8:00 AM to 12:30 PM on Saturdays. MCSA-MCSE certification 70-291 is one of the MOST challenging certification exams in the entire certification process. This class will focus on a high-speed review of the class material for MS 2276 and MS 2277; then spend time on certification "testmanship" and methods to increase your odds of passing ANY certification exam; and, finally review the 70-291 Transcender practice exam and other exam tips. This is NOT a course for learning 70-291. Before registering, you should know that the pace will be very fast, there will be very few classroom labs; and each class will end with HOMEWORK assignments. GOOD NEWS! In spite of what you may have heard - there is NO SLOWDOWN predicted in the job and salary prospects for IT professional - all the way into 2016! In fact, they are predicting GROWTH in IT jobs. There is a great collection of articles listed on eWeek Careers' web site at http://www.careers.eweek.com/?kc=EWKNLCSM121807 Computer training, A+ Training, Security Training, DoD 8570.1 M Information Assurance compliance training and Office skills training. Call (757) 495-0714, 651-1117, or 377-3165 for quotes and pricing. We accept purchase orders and DoD credit cards.
We Have now revamped our entire CCNA training program to teach the new 2007 CCNA
Career Changers, Newbies, and geeks who just haven't gotten your certs yet! We will be starting a new Network+ MCP (Desktop) computer training and computer certification course track approximately every 4 weeks. Enrollment is NOW OPEN. This course will meet 12 hours a week, on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday evenings from 5:30 - 9:30 PM (approximately) . The total course track will will be 160 classroom hours - and 6 weeks of instructor-assisted self-study outside of class, to study for and take certification tests. A+ is also a mandatory CERTIFICATION requirements for the DoD 8570.1 M Information Assurance Mandate. This is a GREAT program for computer training beginners and computer training career changers. It consists of three essential training programs, study materials and certification materials to achieve your Microsoft MCP credential in Microsoft Certified Desktop Support Technician (MCDST). The old CompTIA A+ certification (220-301 and 220-302), which was retired in June of 2007 was truly an embarrassment to teach, well - because it was too OLD - and it didn't teach real-world computer skills. With the New 2006 A+ training program you WILL learn computer skills to become an employable "geek" type, in the real-world of computer technology. We teach this program as a prerequisite for the MCP certification, but we strongly suggest that you purchase the additional, optional practice tests and test vouchers to take these two certifications. We recommend the 220-601 and 220-602 exams, but you can take what you wish, because the A+ course is taught as a total information program. If you opt to purchase the practice exams and vouchers as an elective part of your program, we offer them to you at our cost (a substantial savings). The new A+ CompTIA Computer Training & Certification 2006 Exam Objectives. Include Exams 220-601 A+ Essentials, 220-602 Network and Deskside IT Technician, 220-603 Remote Support and Help Desk Technician, and 220-604 Depot and Bench Technician. The A+ certification from CompTIA only requires 220-601 and one other, but we have found that 220-602 makes you the most employable. HyperLearning Technologies' program provides a full, 80-hours of training, which gives students time to do REAL, HANDS-ON for Windows XP Pro fully-unattended installs; hardware training, down to actual mother-board swap-out and repair of working computers; Networking between computers; stand-alone workstations as well as workstations in a Windows Server 2003 active directory domain; wireless WAP configuration; wireless client configuration; and laptop computer hands-on disassembly and reassembly, including all components - mini-PCI card changes, CPU changes, hard disk drive changes, and even laptop motherboard changes. In addition to training, the course is FOCUSED ON CERTIFICATION! You will be coached on "testmanship," each lesson-learned will be reviewed, and each course is followed by practice test drills. At the end of the course, we give you two weeks "off" from class, in order for you to focus on studying for, taking, and passing the certification exams. CompTIA Network+ follows. This is a required certification for most DoD positions, and job applications. Many new jobs add a CompTIA Network+ certification requirement with each passing day; and it is a prerequisite for understanding and being able to take and pass most advanced certifications. The second exam in the MCSA / MCSE certification program seems to stop most candidates who chose to bypass the N+ certification; Cisco CCNA requires the skills in the Network+ program; and any corporate desktop support jobs require Network+ skills. Even Linux+ certifications need a background in N+. Unlike the A+ course, the Network+ course is only 40 hours of chock-a-block learning - but, with the A+ background most of our students are very capable of learning Networking and passing the Network+ certification. N+ is also mandatory CERTIFICATION requirements for the DoD 8570.1 M Information Assurance Mandate. Like the A+ course, the CompTIA Network+ course is offered as a prerequisite course - and, like the A+ course, the students are strongly urged to add-on the very negligible cost of purchasing the optional practice test and certification voucher at our cost. The Microsoft MCP Credential is earned after the first of two Microsoft Certified Desktop Support Technician (MCDST) certifications. Both of the MCDST certifications, include premium Transcender practice exams and certification exam vouchers. The Microsoft MCDST certification requires you to pass two certs; one for MS 2261 Supporting Users Running the MS Windows XP Operating System Exam 70-271 and one for MS 2262 Supporting Users Running Applications on a MS Windows XP Operating System Exam 70-272. These are included in the package price, as well as one HyperLearning 2nd Shot voucher (if you should fail one exam).
The MCDST will be replaced by the new MCITP certification. But, if you do not already have an MCDST, you will require 3 Microsoft certification exams to get a Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP) credential - If, on the other hand, you already have an MCDST, there is a one-exam upgrade to MCITP. If you are an MCDST, you only need to take one exam (70-621) to earn the MCTS and MCITP: Enterprise Support Technician certifications for Windows Vista. Also, Windows XP is currently the most installed version of Microsoft Windows -- ever! It will continue to be the MAINSTREAM desktop OS, for at least 3 more years - and still be deployed (and supported by Microsoft) for a total of 7 more years. Take it from a veteran in this business; during transition times, IT PAYS TO BE DUAL-CERTIFIED! If you want to start the next class, you should be signing-up NOW! Use our web form, or give Mary Russell, our Training Consultant a phone call at (757) 495-0714. If you need financing advice, she can often help you out. Sent: Monday, July 16, 2007 8:32 AM I wanted to let you know I took my 220-601 exam this past weekend and passed it. I am planning on taking the 220-602 ... next... I am still planning on picking back up with the NET + class in August, so I will see you there! ... Dennis N ---------------------------- For those of you who really don't need the A+ certification, but who do need Network+ and/or MCDST, we will be continuing an in-progress MCDST Certification track. The class is open to people who already have A+ certs (or equivalent) and will be starting up approximately every 4 weeks. Enrollment for jumping into this class is now open! MCDST follows this N+ course and continues. All of the details for these programs are identical to those for the track described above. Give Mary Russell a call and sign up NOW, if you want to join this in-process class, and skip the A+. Note: This is NOT for Career Changers and Newbies. If you are a career changer or a newbie, sign up for a full MCP (Desktop) track, described above. Speaking of MCTS certifications, We will be starting an MCTS: Windows Vista, Configuration course on , Exam 70-620. This will consist of two Windows Vista Training courses and one exam: Course 5115: Installing and Configuring the Windows Vista Operating System (3 days) (1/2 of Exam 70-620) and Course 5116: Configuring Windows Vista Applications and Tools (2 days) (1/2 of Exam 70-620). This program will run for one week, in the daytime, from 8:30 - 4:30. It includes all practice tests and exam voucher. Since this is not part of a "certification program," it does not include a HyperLearning 2nd shot voucher - but additional vouchers can be purchased from HyperLearning.
As demand increases, we will offer more MCITP Windows Vista certification training. If you have a need, let us know - we are your request may be the one to start up an MCITP Windows Vista computer training and certification track. We Offer a 3-week series of Microsoft Office Worker (Skilled) day courses. After completion of this series of courses, the student will be highly skilled in all of the major Microsoft Office applications. This course meets Monday-Friday from 8:30 - 4:30 and runs for 3 weeks. It begins with PC Essentials and Microsoft XP skills; Then, you will learn Microsoft Word user, Level 1; next the subject will be Microsoft Excel user, Level 1; Next, you will learn Microsoft Outlook user, Level 1 next, the subject will be Microsoft PowerPoint user, Level 1. Then, with Microsoft Word user, Level 2; The next lesson will be Microsoft Excel user, Level 2; Next will be Microsoft Outlook user Level 2; you will then move up to Microsoft Outlook user, Level 3. The next topic is Microsoft PowerPoint user, Level 2; Then with Microsoft Word, Expert, Level 1; next you will master Microsoft Word Expert, Level 2; next, You will begin MS Access with Microsoft Access user, level 1; you will then move up to Microsoft Excel user, Level 3. For the next two days, you will learn the new features in Microsoft Office 2007 and, finally, ending the course with Microsoft Visio user, Level 1. At the end of this program, you will be a highly-skilled MS Office specialist, proposal-factory manager, or even the corporate MS Office trainer. If you also opt to take the optional MOS certification exams, which you should be able to easily pass, you could move into a career as a full-time MOS trainer. Note: HyperLearning Technologies does not provide MOS certification vouchers, but we recommend the certification, if you have any desire to take the MOS certification exams. We also offer a one-week combined ACES Copper Data cable structured wiring and ACES Fiber Optic Installer training AND CERTIFICATION program. This course is in high demand! We have to run a new class at least once a month - and the certified graduates are also in high demand. This is a one-price-takes-it-all program. You not only get the training, but you start out with a BRAND NEW professional-grade Cat-5 copper installers tool kit, learn structured data cable installation, take the written exam, take your practical exam, and get your ACES PDCIC certification. Then, you open the shrink-wrap on a brand-new professional fiber optic installer's tool kit, and get your ACES PFOIC certification also. In addition to your certification(s), you also get to take your tool kits home - you'll be ready to go to work on Monday morning. Because you will be working with your own brand new professional grade tools, there will be none of used student "no-niks" that nick your fiber, and Cat-5 punch down tools that won't cut. Our record is extremely good - we rarely ever have a student who leaves one of these classes, without being able to produce commercial-grade copper and fiber data connections AND certified to do so. This program will run for 1 week, in the daytime, from 8:30-4:30, but you can plan on having a lot of homework and take-home exams. We will start-up a new MCSA -> MCSE -> MCSE:Security track regularly. This one is definitely not for the newbies and career changers! Graduates of this program, who take and pass their certifications on schedule are in GREAT DEMAND for their skills. These are the "cream-of-the-cream" and prospective employers know it. This class meets Monday and Wednesday evenings, from 5:30 - 9:30 PM and Saturday Morning from 8:30 AM - 12:30 Noon or T-Th-Saturday Afternoon. But, if you were expecting to become the "cream-of-the-cream," without putting something into it - well - maybe you should reconsider... This program is intensive as well as extensive. It ASSUMES that you have A+ and Network+ (or verifiable equivalent skills), THEN, it includes 6 courses and 4 progressively more comprehensive certifications to achieve MCSA. Add on another 3 courses - and 3 more certifications for MCSE, and then, 1 more tough security course and certification for the MCSE:Security. The total program requires 8 MONTHS of dedicated effort (but that is a lot less than most careers - and it pays as much or more). You can, of course, take only the MCSA, only the MCSE, or the full bag for MCSE:Security. (You can also join an in-progress class, if you already have some certs - but we recommend that most candidates re-sit the earlier courses, for refresher and review (and we make you a sweet deal to make that possible). You will start up with course MS 2274 (41 hr) Managing a Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Environment Exam 70-290, followed by course MS 2275 (27 hr) Maintaining a Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Environment Exam 70-290; then, take 2 weeks off to take the 70-290 Managing and Maintaining a Windows Server 2003 Environment cert exam. This one cert starts you off with a bang! It takes you right into Windows Server 2003 and the wonders of Microsoft Domains and Active directory. The Cert, when you get it, also earns you the Microsoft MCP credential, if you don't already have it. MCP is "Jacks-or-better" for most corporate support jobs these days. Your next two courses, will earn you the Implementing, Managing, and Maintaining a Windows Server 2003 Network Infrastructure Microsoft Exam 70-291 certification. Here is where that Network+ cert comes in to play. These courses are mostly about the server-side of networking - and it kind of assumes that you are already skilled in "networking." Candidates without N + networking skills will find this to be a blindingly-fast course, and a very tough exam to pass. It's still tough, if you do have the computer networking skills, but it is much more achievable. This includes MS 2276 (16 hr) Implementing a Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Network Infrastructure: Network Hosts Exam 70-291 and MS 2277 (40 hr) Implementing, Managing, and Maintaining a Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Network Infrastructure: Network Services Exam 70-291, taken as a single, 56-hour course. By the time you complete these two server certifications, XP is a breeze, so, we give you an abbreviated course in XP, MS 2285 Installing, Configuring, and Administering Microsoft Windows XP Professional Exam 70-270. This certification is very easy for those who make it this far. This course still requires the traditional 2-weeks to pass the cert exam. The final course in the MCSA track is MS 2824 Implementing Microsoft Internet Security and Acceleration Server ISA 2004 Exam 70-350. We did not select this course because it was the easiest, we selected it because it is in the greatest demand in the corporate IT shops. It also sets you up for the next step to MCSA:Security, if you aren't going to continue through to grab the "Golden Ring" (MCSE). This course allows the traditional 2 weeks off to take the cert. The MAIN DIFFERENCE between MCSA duties and MCSE duties is Active Directory and security planning and design skills.... We begin the MCSE program with MS 2278 (40 hrs) Plan and Maintain a Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Network Infrastructure Exam 70-293. This course is followed by the traditional 2 weeks of study for the certification exam. Next, is MS 2279 (40 hrs) Plan, Implement, and Maintain a Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Active Directory Infrastructure Exam 70-294. Followed by two weeks of study for the certification exam. AnnnnnD, For the Golden Ring, the Microsoft MCSE certification program is completed with MS 2830 (24 hrs) Designing Security for a Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Network Exam 70-298. This Certification not only completes the requirements for the MCSE, but it also completes ONE of the two electives required for MCSE:Security. If you are continuing on for the Microsoft MCSE:Security credential, that is typically scheduled shortly after you complete the track above. We have a Combined PMI Project Management Professional (PMP) / Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) preparation course Starting on demand. For those of you who may need prerequisite training, there are 6 days of prerequisite courses in the week preceding this (Project fundamentals, MS Project Level 1, MS Project Level 2, and CompTIA Project+ (3 days). All of these are daytime classes, and will meet 8:30 - 4:30. The actual PMP and CAPM courses are "prep" courses, and do not guarantee that PMI will accept your credentials and allow you to take the certification exam. We do not provide the PMP/CAPM exams. Our trainer, Jim Williams has been a certified PMP for many years, and will be coaching you through the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK), which is the foundation for the PMP/CAPM exams. For more details on the stringent requirements for PMP and CAPM, review the information on the PMI Project Management Professional Credentials: PMP and CAPM web page HERE. We also teach a week-long daytime CompTIA Security+ course. It will meet 8:30 - 5:30 from Monday to Friday. For those of you in - or working for the DoD, the New DoD Instruction 8570.01-M "Information Assurance Workforce Improvement Program" (not exactly new - but new in its implementation force), A+, Network+, Security+ (or CISSP) are REQUIRED to work on any trusted DoD computers. This is also being invoked by other agencies on all kinds of private information computer systems (Medical, Credit records, etc) Security+ is also mandatory CERTIFICATION requirements for the DoD 8570.1 M Information Assurance Mandate. We will soon begin a 3-week series of Microsoft Office Worker (Skilled) day courses. After completion of this series of courses, the student will be highly skilled in all of the major Microsoft Office applications. This course meets Monday-Friday from 8:30 - 4:30 and runs for 3 weeks. It begins on Monday with PC Essentials and Microsoft XP skills; Tuesday, you will learn Microsoft Word user, Level 1; then the subject will be Microsoft Excel user, Level 1; you will then learn Microsoft Outlook user, Level 1, and on Friday the subject will be Microsoft PowerPoint user, Level 1. The class resumes on Monday morning with Microsoft Word user, Level 2; Tuesday's lesson will be Microsoft Excel user, Level 2; Wednesday will be Microsoft Outlook user Level 2; on Thursday, you will move up to Microsoft Outlook user, Level 3; and Friday's topic is Microsoft PowerPoint user, Level 2. The third week resumes on Monday with Microsoft Word, Expert, Level 1; on Tuesday you will master Microsoft Word Expert, Level 2; Wednesday, You will begin MS Access with Microsoft Access user, level 1; Thursday you will move up to Microsoft Excel user, Level 3; finally ending the course on Friday with Microsoft Visio user, Level 1. At the end of this program, you will be a highly-skilled MS Office specialist, proposal-factory manager, or even the corporate MS Office trainer. If you also opt to take the optional MOS certification exams, which you should be able to easily pass, you could move into a career as a full-time MOS trainer. Note: HyperLearning Technologies does not provide MOS certification vouchers, but we recommend the certification. If you have any desire to take the MOS certification exams, we can assist you in arranging Certiport certification exams. Mega-Kudos to Mike, who just finished his MCSA training, got his MCSA certification within 2 weeks of completion of this 4-certification, 6-courses program, and is now got his eye fixed on the GOLDEN RING! Mike sez: "Sent: Wednesday, July 18, 2007 2:31 PM Subject: 70-293 Hey guys, FYI - i got a 805 today on 70-293. The plan is to get my MCSE before the end of the year. Thanks for the knowledge base to start with. Mike" ------------------- NOTICE: Microsoft has announced that they will be RETIRING the 70-292 and 70-296 upgrade certs for MCSE 2000 to MCSE 2003 upgrades March 31, 2008!!! They have, at the same time announced that the MCSE/MCSA certs will be replaced with the new MCITP cert series. Finally, they have announced that MCSE 2003 WILL HAVE a single-exam upgrade path to Windows 2008 MCITP, - BUT - there will be NO single-exam upgrade path from 2000 certs to equivalent Windows 2008 certs. What does this mean to you Windows 2000 certification holders? If you don't get your upgrade certs with 70-292 and 70-296 NOW, you will be stuck with Windows 2000 certs forever, or you will have to take the full series of MCTS/MCITP certs. Call Mary Russell at HyperLearning Technologies now at (757) 495-0714, to schedule a full-time day schedule, or a part-time evenings and/or weekends schedule to get your upgrade certs. If you think you can self-study and upgrade, go for it! A word of warning... I know several senior-level trainers who THOUGHT they could just go down and pass the test, with what they already knew. If you find yourself in the same, highly esteemed group who have failed the 70-292 upgrade exam, give Mary a call, and get it done now! If you have been waiting on starting a course, using our temporary discounts, you may be too late. The only discounts which are still available are the 50% discount for certified individuals, taking the individual courses to upgrade, and the free tuition offer for individuals who have paid tuition for a certification course elsewhere, but didn't get certified. If you fall under the category for Virginia Unemployment Commission, Opportunity-Inc (NeXstep), or the Federal Workforce Investment Act, be sure to check out your opportunities at HyperLearning Technologies for retraining and starting a new career. In general, the criterion is "unemployed," "UNDERemployed," Handicapped, or about to be unemployed or displaced from the workplace due to announced RIF or plant closings. At the moment, these programs are WELL-FUNDED!! (Sometimes they are under-funded or depleted, but the opportunities for acceptance into one of these programs right now is VERY HIGH.)
