MCITP Server Administrator
The Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP): Server Administrator credential is a leading certification for Windows Server 2008, providing widely recognized validation of the candidate's ability to perform critical Server Administration job roles by using Microsoft technologies to their best advantage. A server administrator is responsible for the operations and day-to-day management of an infrastructure of servers for an enterprise organization. Windows server administrators manage the infrastructure, Web, and IT application servers. They conduct most server management tasks remotely by using Terminal Server or administration tools installed on their local workstation. Server administrators also support engineering projects and are responsible for server builds and configuration. The MCITP: Server Administrator program is comprised of four courses and three Microsoft Exams, 70-640, 70-642, and 70-646. On the path to the MCITP certification, the candidate will attain the CMTS: Windows Server 2008: Active Directory Configuration Certification, and the MCTS: Network Infrastructure Configuration certification.
Prerequisites:
Candidates for this certification are IT professionals who want to be known as leaders and problem solvers in a current or future role in an organization that uses Windows Server 2008. Candidates should be experienced in:
- Handling day-to-day management of the server operating system, file structure, and directory services.
- Handling software distribution and updates.
- Monitoring servers
- Providing tier-2 troubleshooting support.
- Supporting engineering and change-management projects.
- Creating builds and configuring the server.
- Implementing the auditing policy.
- Performing scheduled vulnerability-assessment scans.
- Monitoring logs for firewalls and intrusion-detection systems.
Objectives:
Prepare students to become Server Administrators in a Windows Server 2008 environment. The MCITP: Server Administrator program is designed to prepare students to become Server Administrators. The program will prepare students to pass three exams: two Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS) prerequisite exams, 70-640 and 70-642, and one Professional exam, 70-646.
