Associate of Applied Science (Information Technology)
Program Description:
The Associate of Applied Science (AAS) in Information Technology program is designed to prepare students for employment in the networking and information technology fields by imparting a broad range of knowledge necessary in today’s workplace. The AAS program is a Terminal Program and credits are not normally transferrable for advanced degrees. The Associate Programs at HyperLearning Technologies include a minimum 60 semester credit hours in total. Of the 60 hours, a minimum of 45 credit hours will be in the Technical Area of Concentration. The program also requires a minimum of 15 credit hours of General Education courses with a minimum of one course from each of the following: Humanities, Behavioral Sciences, Natural or Applied Sciences and Mathematics.
The Associate of Applied Science with a concentration in IT technology is designed to move a student from basic computer skills to an intermediate level of demonstrated knowledge in LAN, WAN and Network administration. The AAS program begins with CompTIA A+, an IT entry level course, and progresses through Network +, Security+, Microsoft Certified IT Professional and Cisco CCNA core courses. Electives are available and include Windows 7, Linux+, Small Business Server, Internet Security and Acceleration Server, Data Cabling and Fiber Optic Installer and Certified Associate in Project Management.
Technical certifications have become a necessity for employment in the IT field. This program is designed to teach the topic at a certification level of detail so that the serious IT student will learn and understand the topic but can also obtain two to three certifications in each technical area per semester, if desired. Each semester is broken into three technical sessions or modules with the courses taught in three to four week sessions with seven to ten days for exam preparation and exam taking. Lab credit is given for each certification attained from courses taken at HyperLearning.
Prerequisites:
Prerequisites for the program include a high school diploma or GED and a foundation in computers and software applications including the Windows desktop, word processing, spreadsheets, database, Internet,and e-mail. For students who are deficient or feel a refresher is necessary, the CompTIA Strata IT Fundamentals program and specialty Microsoft Certified Application Specialist programs are recommended as prerequisites. These courses are available at HyperLearning Technologies as certification programs.
Objectives:
The Associate degree program is designed to provide students with a comprehensive set of skills and certifications that employers seek in new hires and increasingly require from their existing network employees.
For those students who choose to certify in all of the technologies taken during the course of study, the degree together with the certifications will demonstrate a high level of industry-recognized knowledge and expertise. This AAS degree and related certifications will set HyperLearning graduates apart from degree-only graduates and will increase their opportunites for employment in the IT field.
Transfer Policy:
Academic Credits: Following evaluation of an official transcript, HyperLearning Technologies will accept General Education Core credits with a grade of C or higher, received from an accredited institution of higher learning. Transferable credits include courses in Humanities, Behavioral Sciences, Natural or Applied Sciences and Mathematics. If there are any questions regarding transfer credits, please contact HyperLearning Technologies for clarification.
Certification Credits: Up to five certification exams identified in the Associate of Applied Science program can be transferred into the program. The certification must be current at the time of application. To transfer a certification and receive up to three hours of credit, a Certificate of Completion from an Authorized Training Provider or training instituion must be submitted, a copy of the Certification and a transfer application fee are required.
Graduation Requirements:
The graduation candidate must have received the required certifications and earned or will have earned at time of graduation a minimum of 60 semester credit hours. which are to include 45 credit hours in the technical area of concentration and 15 credit hours of general education courses with a minimum of one course from each of the following: Humanities, Behavioral Sciences, Natural or Applied Sciences and Mathematics.
CompTIA A+, Network+ and Security + certifications to satisfy the requirements of the DOD 8570 Information Assurance mandate for IAT Level 1 and Level 2 and IAM Level 1 employment positions, are mandatory to receive the AAS Degree in Information Technology from HyperLearning Technologies.
The student must have a cumulative grade point average of C or above.
Pricing:
The cost of the program will depend upon the electives selected and the certifications obtained. The cost will be approximately $30,000 including an allowance for the General Education courses. Call to lay out your program.

Students are eligible for admission to HyperLearning Technologies if over 18 years of age and have a high school diploma or GED.
