Following is a series of emails, which has been received from the more than 200 MCSE, MCSA, MCP, CCNA, CNA, and CompTIA certified Guru's whom we (HyperLearning, and/or it's instructors) have taught, and still maintain email contact with. These emails are NOT SOLICITED. They were sent spontaneously by the individuals listed. Hyperlearning Technologies, in my opinion, has a foolproof plan for getting people the knowledge they need. They use dedication as a driving force. I was truly learning the OS, hands on, from the basics of how networks operate to the intricate details of a Windows 2000 forest. Not only were the class materials A-1, the hands on labs were outstanding. We were running a real network! The most impressive parts however were the instructors. They were not just instructors. They were friends. They were people who cared, honestly, about their student’s success. I was well on my way to achieving the coveted MCSE certification for Windows 2000. After 6 month’s of hard work, I had achieved
my MCSE for Windows 2000, and wouldn’t you know it, I landed a great job working
in the IT field on a Military Contract for the Navy and Marine Corps.
Hyperlearning had prepared me to support a live Windows 2000 network for hero’s
defending our freedom. For those who are involved in the military, you know
exactly how important communication is and an intranet is the way they do most
of it. My salary was increased by more than 100% from my old career and
I love my job. Within one year, I have been promoted to Shift Manager and I owe
much of my success to the training and mentoring I received from Hyperlearning
Technologies.
Sent: Tuesday, October 03, 2006 8:31 PM I actually advertise for you guys all the time- I was very impressed the last
time we met for lunch and had the opportunity to tour your facility. I just returned from Asia (Korea / Japan), having done some training aboard a
Navy ship. I've been pretty involved with the networking training (or lack
thereof), so I've been very active in developing the training for that aspect of
the newer shipboard systems (I'll be teaching something very similar to a
Network + track for some Japanese sailors in a few weeks). ... Anyway, I plan to recommend your program as the training resource we use. It may end up just being me coming by to bug you for a few weeks, but I'm
always up for some quality Will Harper certification training. -Tom M. Good afternoon Will: I wanted to share my great news with you. Last Wednesday I passed my 220 exam to fulfill my MCSE requirements. Thanks for all the encouragement. Sincerely Sent: Sunday, November 02, 2003 9:15 PM Hello Will: I haven't heard from you in a while, wanted to drop you a line to say thanx for the support on my SE quest. I passed 220 in Sept to finish my SE requirements on 2000. I currently have one more exam that will apply the :security to both my SA and SE. Then I will start the 03 upgrade. I hope all is well and look forward to hearing from you. Keep the career opportunities coming. Sincerely, Sent: Tuesday, January 13, 2004 12:04 PM Will thank you, thank you, thank you!!! for all the great network/subnetting material you provided us during your professional / server class. It came in handy today. I just passed my CCNA a few hours ago. Sincerely, Aaron Olivashello mr. harper Subj: Finally The second one was a charm. Done Monday PM. The results got lost in the computer for some time (about 30 min) but came out with the right answer. Pass. See you tonight 5PM Date: 12/26/2000 4:27:17 PM Eastern Standard Time You were right, the Infrastructure is the hardest test I have taken so far. And - - I passed it today - third time was a charm. See you tuesday night. Have a Happy New Year, I will. Robert SonierDate: 11/23/2000 9:02:42 AM Eastern Standard Time I finally passed the IIS 4 test, the day before Thanksgiving. I took the test in May, and missed by a few points (657), got sidetracked with my new job, (I had to learn Solaris, I finally got back to the IIS test, and BLEW IT AWAY (909). If any of my former Classmates needs these questions, Just E-mail me. Brad CowardDate: 5/26/00 10:03:54 PM Eastern Daylight Time Will, went back today and retook the IIS exam and passed with an 800. Seemed to be a lot questions on configuring/troubleshooting scripting (ie: ASP, CGI, and ISAPI) also several questions on logging. Basically everything Michelle had put in her email, quite helpful, I was able to go back through the books and dig out those pearls of wisdom. AT1(AW) Bruce A. Bultman, MCSESent: Tuesday, August 17, 2004 8:05 AM Will Last night was our first night of Linux/unix and I heard you will be gone. I want to thank you for all you have done. I'm not alone by saying that your vast knowledge and practical experience has given us all of us a solid understanding and the confidence to further advance as IT professionals. You will be missed and wish you all the best in all your endeavors. Sincerely, Date: 12/5/2000 3:05:43 PM Eastern Standard Time I earned my CCNA the end of October. There is only 1 exam for this cert. After CCNA you can branch off to Cisco's different tracks like CCNP. If you went through any MCP classes with Will Harper, you're halfway to your CCNA already (it's like Microsoft's TCP/IP and Networking Essentials on really good steroids). Cisco doesn't try to trip you up with complex language like Microsoft does, though. Either you know it or you don't. If you can't subnet in your head, forget it. I prepared by: 1) Literature>>>Exam Cram Routing and Switching for CCNA; CCNA from Sybex by Todd Lammle; Troy Tech CCNA 2) Simulator>>>RouterSim--simulates 6 routers, 3 switches, 4 pcs--more than sufficient to learn the basics and pass the test 3) Tests>>>Boson Tests--visit the Boson website. I didn't take any classes or use any other sources for my prep. It took me about 3 weeks to become test ready. You can do it, too. Good Luck-----------------CharlesDate: 11/1/2000 1:52:40 PM Eastern Standard Time I passed the CCNA 2.0 exam with a 913 today using most of the stuff I learned from you. The Will Harper TCP/IP Cheat Sheet (official name) was invaluable. You are the MAN !!! Oh, yeah--have you heard anything about current MCSEs being able to use their voucher to take the 4 Core 2000 exams instead of the Accelerated exam. I saw this on a web site (forgot to copy the link) but I haven't confirmed this info with Microsoft. Thanx----CharlesChuck Hodge (http://www.charleshodge.com) "...It's a lot, but like Will Harper (one of the best instructors I've ever had) says, "I don't have a dream, I have a plan."This [Will Harper] is the guy that helped me define my approach to success in the IT industry. I'm in the process of writing an article based on this approach and the people who have influenced me the most -- Will's one of the four. Will felt that a person couldn't do just one thing and be successful in IT. So, based on his input, I have found these 3 things to be true:
Date: 12/4/2000 10:50:23 AM Eastern Standard Time I am both MCSE and CCNA, and my experience with the job market as follows: After I received my MCSE and started the job hunt I was very disappointed in the lack of response I received. That is when I decided to go for the Cisco certification. After I received my CCNA it was like I found the combination of things that employers are looking for and the phone started to ring. So for what it is worth the combination of the 2 certifications is a very good mix. David Colaizzi MCSE & CCNAIn a message dated 5/1/2001 7:05:27 PM Eastern Daylight Time, Hello Will, As of 6:30 pm on 5-1-01 I have become one of the newest Windows 2000 MCSE. All the head pounding studying is over (for now). I just like to say thank you for all your help. David ColaizziSent: Saturday, November 01, 2003 1:49 PM Well I finally did it passed 70-220 now it's time to take security+ Andrew Shumate, MCSE Win2KI'm the only technical trainer for the training center at my company so I've been putting in a lot of long hours teaching day and night classes. Weeks were I don't teach I get to go out on service calls installing servers and doing on-site training, so that makes it fun. That way I'm not staring at the same four walls of the classroom every day. I appreciate all the emails I get from you. It's good to hear all about the success of your students. Take care and keep making a difference. Ed ManteuffelWell, they have increased my titles if not my salary. Senior Microsoft Systems Engineer, Senior Network Engineer, Senior Security Engineer. Joy, Joy, Joy... put in a couple of security certs this year.. Funny thing is that the MCSE and CCNA were perfect primers for the security side of things.. Again, I think back and thank you for the guidance in getting that first cert. Looking at upgrading to Win2K. Company won't spring for it, but I think it will be worth it for my own use... MCSE(4.0), CCNA, RSA, ISS, & hopefully MCSE(W2K). Even thinking of looking back in the job market come Jan. Been three years here. My responsibilities and skills have tripled, my salary has increased by $4k. Ridiculous to me, but they say I should be happy to have a job in times like these. I figure security will sell itself soon. I have managed and configured Cisco Firewalls, CheckPoint Firewalls, Gauntlet Firewalls, Cisco VPN, CheckPoint VPN, PGPvpn, Cisco IOS (Routers & Switches), 3Com (Routers & Switches), Foundry (Routers & Switches), Motorola (Routers & Switches), and even a Netopia router. I have only taken two courses on Cisco in all of that... CCNA & Managing Cisco Security (a CCNP elective). Hope things are good for you. I think of you and Rich often and wonder how you guys are doing. Give my best to any of the old crew if you hear from them. Eric DixonThanks.. My gear is up to date.. This really isn't that bad if you follow the 'best practices' for access-lists. Only permit that which you want, explicitly. Deny everything else. We have upgraded to 12.3(1a). Hope you are doing well... I'm heading down the track for another cert.. CCSP (Cisco Certified Security Professional). About to take the first exam early next week. I've never found another study group of quite the caliber of those in your MCSE program. I miss the old gang. Take care.. Hey Will, Fletch here, just got back from the test center. I passed the exam! Microsoft's test are pretty challenging, but I was able to pull it off. I had a lot of questions on network troubleshooting with Windows 2000, along with disk systems, file/folder permissions, printing, group policies, and troubleshooting hardware. The style of the exam is a lot different from the Comptia exams. It was pretty tough. The test taking techniques helped out a great deal. Thanks you for the help on that. I will bring my results to you tomorrow in class. Take care. R/ Sent: Thursday, January 29, 2004 5:58 PM Hello Will, This is Fletch, I took the exam today and I passed! The material we went over last night on test taking helped me out a great deal. I will drop off the results on how I did to you next Wednesday. Thanks for your advice it really helped me out in passing the exam. Next stop A+ Core exam! Once again thanks a bunch. R/Fletcher D Sent: Tuesday, June 03, 2003 9:02 PM Well will I read your whole email and I am most proud of your constant striving for excellence. You are a living example to me and other up and coming MCSE's that know that with your experience, love and compassion for the computer industry. We can make all our dreams come true. Please continue to stay in touch, I enjoy reading your emails. Oh by the way, It was a email you sent out, before i left to support the troops in Iraq that help me to home in on my goals. I am back home now and will still be in and out training but i will be doing a great deal of self study until i can get on shore duty. I have settled on changing rate's from a hospital corpsmen to a information technician. I know that I was not the most focused student when I was in your class, but thanks to some very wonderful angels I was able to see the light. I have a question for you. Since I am on sea duty, what is your recommendation for a good self study material. I am pursuing MCSE. Any advice you have would be helpful. " Do not wish to be anything but what you are, and to be that perfectly." GioVanniSent: Friday, December 13, 2002 10:52 AM Will, This is the schedule I just finished: 210 OCT 16 2001 (last year) I'm Finished!! I know the sequence may be a little unorthodox, but by the time you finish studying for the design exams, you MUST know 215 inside and out. As for the time frame, I should have listened to you and scheduled a test at a time to force myself to study and take it. What I did was get ALL my vouchers from Rick (in July) and did nothing for several months until I looked at the vouchers and realized that they were going to expire on DEC 12! (now go look at those dates again!) Thanks for all your help. (know anyone that's gonna be hiring in about 18 months??) Cheers! Sent: Tuesday, August 03, 2004 8:31 PM For what it's worth, I appreciate the knowledge you have passed to me. It has certainly rekindled my interest in computers, which took a short hiatus upon my enlistment. Sent: Tuesday, August 03, 2004 7:01 PM Also, I hear you won't be teaching the Routers Class. I am disappointed. I was quite impressed with the way you taught the networking class, I was hoping you would do the router class also. Greg NeimondWill, Yes, I guess I did well. But I had a ton of time to study and a networked system to learn on at home. Fortunately, my boss allowed me the time to do this right otherwise who knows how well I would have done. It definitely required a large part of my days! Of course having the right mentor (you) helps provide the direction I needed...THANKS WILL .... Thanks! And thanks again for all of your efforts to ensure that the MCSEs you bring into the corporate world are equipped with as much real world and classroom experience as a classroom environment can provide. I appreciate everything you taught us! Take care and keep sending those part/full-time jobs that are looking for MCSEs... I'm trying to gain experience BEFORE I retire from the canoe club! Hal"There are several important points to make regarding Naval Network Warfare Command's responsibilities that you should know: · Naval Network Warfare Command serves as the sponsor for the new restricted line community of officers known as information professionals - officers whose primary purpose is to help increase network technical expertise within the Fleet and with the warfare communities. The command will play a similar role with the enlisted rating of information systems technicians. This mission relative to personnel concentrates on the most critical and valuable part of what it takes to make network-centric warfare work - smart, educated, professional Naval officers and Sailors." Note the last bullet Will.... some of those information professionals (officer and enlisted) have been trained by YOU! Thanks VERY much for you dedication. You assisted me in getting to the place I need to be so I can play a very vital role in protecting and defending the Navy's (and Marine's) networks, which allow us to process and distribute the information to put ordnance on target. Oh yeah, my specific job over here is protecting ForceNet (Navy Network). I work in the Information Assurance Branch and am heavily involved in the Security, Certification and Accreditation process. Have a Safe and Happy Holiday Season! HalSubj: IIS Test Score Here is my score from the IS test: Passing Score 727 Thanks for everything. JackieSent: Thursday, July 08, 2004 4:34 PM We have an exchange 2k server at work and our company is migrating to a cluster E2k3 arrangement (based at a central location). We also have one exchange guru at our corporate headquarters who has forgotten more things about exchange than I'm likely to learn. For this time around, I was looking at just getting the books and training kits and more or less teaching myself as I've got a decent grasp of E2k (since I run E2k here and at work). Now if you happen to be teaching an Exchange 2k or 2k3 class, please let me know. Some good news though... between what I already knew about computers and windows plus what you've taught me, I managed to bag a 5.57% pay raise during our annual performance review. For that, I have to say thank you for being so gruff and cranky about making us get out and get our certs. Jay Meeker Sent: Wednesday, August 04, 2004 4:27 PM BTW, thank you for teaching me so well about NT & Win2k. Last week while I was up at the DSS Academy, I had to use that knowledge. It came in quite handy in explaining how to do security audits and such in Win2k. Thank you for giving me the knowledge that allowed me to really shine as a professional. Jay MeekerSubj: Test Scores Will, My IIS test score was 818. Thanks again for everything. R/JeffFrom: Wolf, Joel F CTT1 FLTINFOWARCEN NORFOLK VA Will Are you still enjoying some time off from the podium or have you started teaching again and if so where?. <snip name of training organization> has upset me by canceling routers 2 course and other courses because they don't have instructors to teach at Oceana and the main campus is on a different timeline and they are filled. Josh is teaching programming logic next term so I will be taking that and hopefully they will have the staff billets filled in time for the spring term. Hope things are going well with you. Take care Sent: Thursday, October 07, 2004 3:43 PM Thanks for the info Will and good luck with the certs and if you do get back in front of the podium you have several people who would like to be in front of you. Joel WolfRe: MCSE Test Status Will, I have taken the core four, but I need an address to mail the test results to if possible. I had to withdraw from the electives because of navy reasons. I am now teaching myself SQL 7. Thank you for all the great help! R/ John CoxSent: Monday, July 19, 2004 10:42 AM Will. Just completed the N+ exam. Thanks for all your help. Doubt that i would have passed it without the transcender exams. 800 out of 900. No NT 4.0 nuts and bolts questions. No apple questions. Found a couple of sites that were useful when studying. Thought i would pass them to you. You can review them and pass them to others studying for the exam. 1.The Comptia Network + examination objectives..obviously.... 2.wiring & cable color schemes....www. aptcommunications.com/ncode.htm..would probably make a good class handout. 3.OSI model and protocols....I added to this one based on my reading...made keeping it all straight easier. www.lex-con.com/osimodel.htm If I may, a few questions. Next targets are W2000 Professional & Server. Do you think I should attach them as a pair or sequentially? At <snip> they teach them together, You said the you normally teach them separately. I think I am ready to start gaining some hands on experience through a temp agency. You suggested this route. Any agency in particular you can recommend? Jan William GrippSent: Friday, March 21, 2003 7:42 PM Got the Job, I will be working at the Oceana NAS as a Systems Administrator for Capstone Corp. Start April 7th Will I want to thank you for teaching me everything I know. John Hildebrant RE: MCSE Test Status I took the IIs4 test today and scored a 927. That was my last test, finally! The questions were not too hard for me. I had not seen about 7 of the 55. Another 14-15 were variations of what I had seen, leaving the rest as straight from troy tech and transcender and other sites on the net. JohnSubj: MCSE MCSE! Well, I guess that says it all. I passed IIS today with an 827! Thanks again for all of your help and encouragement. Now on to the job search! Thanks again, From: Will Harper Hi Ken Thanks for your feedback. I enjoy my job, but its when people like you come back to say "thank you," that makes it all worthwhile. Congratulations! Keep on keeping on, you are well on your way. It is a long, uphill climb -- but it pays off in the end!! Will Harper, -----Original Message----- Dont know if you remember me, but just wanted to let you know that I Passed both the Hardware and the Operating Systems A+ exams on friday. Thanks for the training, I learned more from you in 1 week then I have learned from anyone else in a year. I will be taking my N+ this coming friday and I feel really confident that I will pass that one as well. I will keep you posted. Thanks Again, Kenneth JohnsonDate: 6/10/2001 10:05:15 AM Eastern Daylight Time Will, Good morning, thanks for letting me film you yesterday, it was my opportunity to give back a small portion of what I received. I wanted to tell you that what I've learned from you in & outside the text books has made me a pretty darn good Network Technician (MAC/PC networking is networking) and one day a better "PC" Systems Administrator. My success out weigh my failures & people near me seek my advice, & some can't live without me so they're dragging me to foreign lands to help their causes. I'm confident I can survive without tap dancing in the IT world. SOOOO BRING IT ON! You're truly one of a kind, thank you for changing my life in so many positive ways. God Bless Gentlemen, Just wanted to say thanks for letting me join in your class project last night, I enjoyed working with each one of you. As always, Will, from start to finish you made this a great learning experience for me. Good Luck! I'm blessed to have been a pupil of yours as I compare my knowledge with those trained elsewhere, there is a world of difference. Now back to the Mac's. Larry FWill, Last Thursday evening I saw Mark Minasi speak in Richmond on XP & .NET, he was really good. Before his lecture I had him sign one of my text books & we spoke briefly about ... he says he has never met "the great one" but has heard about you… Have a great day! Larry FLadies & Gentlemen, I won’t be going to any job fairs for awhile, Jackie and I will be putting down roots somewhere in Hampton Roads. I’ve been offered a position with Raytheon Global Broadcast Systems as a Network Engineer. Toot Toot! I want to thank each and every one of you for helping me with my job search. It’s time to celebrate! PEACE. Sent: Friday, March 07, 2003 4:47 PM Will, I recently earned the MCT and that was an extra $7K during negotiations. Will, you have changed my life. Thank you, Date: 11/16/2000 10:02:35 AM Eastern Standard Time Will, I have to unfortunately withdraw myself from the 2000 evening class. I found out that I am not superman, and cannot work on both my CCNP and MCSE at the same time. I decided to concentrate my entire effort to completing the requirements for the CCNP certification first. I did enjoy your presentation of the material and want to convey my recognition to you as an excellent instructor. I hope that in the future I will have the opportunity to sit in another of your classes or be able to work with you. Larry SSent: Saturday, April 17, 1999 12:41 PM Subject: LATEST NEWS IN PURSUIT OF MCSE Warm Greetings Will, Great news...I passed the TCP/IP test with a 764 score. I took the VUE test and it is still adaptive, 15 questions. My resources tell me Sylvan Prometric has gone back to 35 question non adaptive test-TCP/IP. To pass the test I utilized training provided by "Will", transcenders, and "Kitty Pan" from Brain dump heaven. I took about two weeks longer to take the test than I said I would in my last e-mail to you and I should not have waited. I did study daily for the test but my fear of failure was at the root of my postponing the test. The key motivational factor was scheduling the test. Once I laid the money down, my attention on the test became very, very focused. I am going to take the IIS 4.0 test on Tuesday 27 April at 1000. Then I will be......an MCSE!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks for your help Will. I would not be where I am at in this pursuit without your help and guidance. No question. Lee H. Smith **** A note to your current class, Congrats on your good start on Networking Essentials. Most impressive. Keep charging hard. When will tells you that you are ready to take the exam at the end of the course, listen to him. No kidding. I have three other unsolicited pieces of advise for you in reference to achieving MCSE. 1. Listen to Will 2. Listen to Will 3. Listen to Will He'll get you there. Just do what he says. Good luck, Sent: Monday, March 29, 1999 5:22 PM Hello Will, Thanks for keeping me informed on what is happening in the MCSE world. I really appreciate it. I'm taking TCP/IP this Friday and am confident I will pass! Then on to IIS! You gave us some great advice about pursuing MCSE during one of our last classes....You told us that winners always sprint at the end. I have taken that advice to heart, but you didn't tell us the sprint was for a mile! Sebastian L passed his TCP/IP this past Saturday with flying colors! Take care, Subj: MCSE STATUS Greetings Will, Thanks for asking about my MCSE. You continue to impress me with your caring for your students. I should have taken your advice and completed it before going to a ship. On the ship, I served as the LAN administrator for a system with 120 computers, interfacing NT 4.0, Exchange 5.5, Unix, Cisco routers and XYLAN switches in addition to my duties as Leading Chief Petty Officer. I checked off the ship in December and am a working at FTSCLANT, Norflolk Naval Base, as a field engineer for Navy Computer Systems on all East Coast Ships and Texas. We try to resolve all problems by email or phone and travel when we must. I've completed 5 MCSE tests and am scheduled for IIS 4.0 on the 15th Feb. Got any good pointers for the IIS test? I still remember your test taking pointers and I have the transcenders and course materials. I will email you with the test results. Got to beat the 28 Feb deadline. The Navy will be migrating to W2K with in the next year so that should help me for the W2k MCSE certs. I remember your story about returning from a 6 month (9 month) deployment and a day later being ordered to another deployment. I am delighted to report that I am not in that situation and still marvel at the tenacity of sailors of yesterday. I really appreciate all the emails Will and am searching now for job placement 23 March 2003. Talk to you soon – LeeSent: Wednesday, April 23, 2003 8:24 PM Congratulations Will :-), It is always great to hear you notch another certification in your professional belt. It sounds exciting to pass CCNA. I have a copy of the CCNA transcenders and am studying for the test too. I'm using the Cisco ICND book and the Cisco Press Exam #640-607 book. Will you be teaching CCNA now? I hear great reports on the Cisco class I have a job now at Allied Technology Group Inc., a subcontracter providing IT advisors to all US Navy Ships. The job was custom built for me and I'm sure God had a direct hand in it. Thanks very much for the leads to CACI and GT Tech. Let me know how I can help you; I'd love to return the favor. See you later, **** Also - One job that I was looking strongly at was IT for the State Department. If your students are looking for a great future with upward career opportunity (and living all over the world) that is the place to look.Subj: MCSE dear will, i know you remember me! i wish i were emailing you to tell you that i finally landed that 100,000 a year job and i would be a historical miracle of your's!! but, i have a funny and i know you will pass it along to your students if you feel it worthy! i hope you are doing well and all is good. i have never worked as an MCSE or anything in the field as i am sure you know. i went back to college to TCC to get my associates as i could not land anything for whatever reason! i finished in may and the short of the long of it all after relocated to florida in late august, i ONCE AGAIN, found myself being a WIDOW!! this time, number 2! i tell ya..i feel like a kat that has nine lives but i am not sure just how many i have used up thus far!!!after doing much sole searching i established myself in charleston south carolina for a few reasons-living on an old plantation on a remote island just outside of the main city-which is so picturesque and fabulous!jobs across the country, needless to say, are few and far between, but i ALWAYS ALWAYS put down on my resume as aprt of my education that i have an MCSE-as NO ONE will ever take that away from me!i earned it, thanks to you!but, back to the short story-----so i enrolled myself in january back in college to finish up my business degree and i am on track and could not land a job -no matter wht. but, finally a new company is arriving in this city and they hired 18 people to man their NETWORK CALL CENTER-but, it is not a PC network center, that is the funny about it! UNIVERSAL SOLUTIONS maintains the equipment it sells to huge companies of divinity products(AVIYA communications-itis the company that replaced lucent technologies and the upper brass are all ATT/BELL/LUCENT=etc. so i am manning the center to repair the alarms etc. that come into the center and if i can not repair i send a tech out on site within 8 hours. the amazing thing is that i was STRICTLY HIRED because i had my MCSE certification! unreal! but, they did not ask if i had any hands on experience and i of course, did not volunteer that information. i will have the opportunity to be trained to obtain my AVIYA certification on the systems! it is not brain surgery compared to wht i was thru in your classes and also college now! but, they have a HUGE IT department and techies are all over the place and NONE of them have ANY certifications but they have the hands on experience. well, you know because of my age, it is hard to work into a job and up the ladder but they see potential in me and i dont want to stand still and remain in that low-end position! i would like you to suggest a path of progress for me if that is possible! i want to relearn and now feel that i will NOT fear wht you taught me and i have probably forgotten but i know i am TRAINABLE!!! and darn ---you were the BEST teacher also on HOW to tackle them exams and it certainly carried over into college as i remain a 4.0 student even when i take the statistics and 3 calculus etc! man, not very many people can do wht i can at my young age of 53! if it worth me to study for A+ and move on from there or ?????money is extremely tight but i know that with my friends help and suggestions i will move down a very fruitful path as i have been! thank you again, for your time and thoughts on this matter! please give my warmest regards to bill smith if he is still at the school. you both have been integral people in my life at a very crucial time as you both know! thank you again, and i hope to hear from you soon, be well with warmest regards, i am LINDA K.TRESTMAN JERSIGRL@Sent: Saturday, December 20, 2003 10:14 AM Hi, Will ... I see a lot of people are getting certifications under your guidance. I'm still on my first job after completing school ... I have been fortunate to be able to move forward in responsibility and pay. I'm the lead server technician for about 80 servers, with 45 more to place online in the next couple of months. I have been involved in a NT 4.0 to Windows 2000 migration and almost every aspect of network administration. My training ... gave me the foot in the door and its been great ever since. Mike RDate: 11/21/2000 12:09:55 PM Eastern Standard Time Mike R... here, one of your former students from Hyper Learning Technologies. Just wanted to say hi, make sure you were still at this address. Hope things are going well with your business and certifications. I have passed the server and workstation exams, and am taking Enterprise tomorrow at ACTS. The foundations you gave us in the beginning carried us through the thin knowledge of your successor, and give me the confidence to take all these exams once and only once. Thanks, and Happy Thanksgiving. Subj: RE: Happy Holidays Happy Holidays Will. Thank for the info you send. Things are going good for me, I was just promoted to "Systems Analyst" along with a great big raise. Nice to be appreciated. I'm preparing for the W2K certification and plan on getting at least the core finished by this fall. Merry Christmas, Subj: [Fwd: Attention: Microsoft Announces Deadline for NT 4.0 Exams] Will, You called this in August. When you're right, you're right! -Mike PS- Passed TCP/IP today. You should copyright your cheat sheet on the subject.Subj: Re: There's gonna be a lot of hiring in Tidewater Will, What is the VA Beach Campus? Also, last night after flunking Proxy Server by ONE question, I immediately retook it and passed. I'm now officially MCSE. Thanks for all your help and guidance. Couldn't have done it without you. Talk soon, MikeSent: Wednesday, August 06, 2003 9:40 PM To All, I passed my 70-218 (Managing a Microsoft Windows 2000 Network Environment) test today. That finishes up the MSCA track for me. I have already authorized COMPTIA to send my A+ and Network+ credentials to Microsoft. I hope to hear from Microsoft soon. Thanks to you all for your help in this endeavor. PaulSubj: oldog's success, M.C.S.E. After a very long time, it seems to me, after leaving your class, moving to Florida, going through the trials and tribs of setting up a new company, getting it standing on it's own two feet, I found time to study and complete the NT class you were trying to teach. IIS 4.0 is now history, a victory for your track record. A new M.C.S.E. has
joined the ranks. Thanks for your efforts, Richard J. G, Hello Will, I finished. I did the 221 last Tuesday. You can now add me to your statistics of MCSE's you have trained. You were right, the 221 was a breeze after taking the 216. I should have taken the test the day after I did the 216. Thank you for the pushing, I mean helping, hand. Respectfully, Sent: Saturday, March 27, 1999 6:55 PM Dear Will, Yes, I am still at it. I did the TCP/IP exam. The View test was a lot easier them the Sylvan Prometric. The test did not ask anything about subnetting or finding addresses. I passed it by 116 points. Now is the time for the big one (IIS). Fun, fun, fun but that is what I am here for. I will be writing you soon. (Hopefully) LunaWill... I want to apologize for missing class this past week. I didn't plan to.. things just got a little hectic. I also wanted to let you know that I've decided not to continue with the program. I guess I really didn't do enough research before I signed up and I've come to realize that being a network administrator really isn't what I want to do. Maybe you could give me a little advice... I am still very interested in computers and the IT field. I would much prefer to be involved in the hardware side of building networks than administering them once they've been built. Thanks for everything... your knowledge of this stuff truly amazes me. Take care... Stu TDate: 11/13/2000 5:49:53 PM Eastern Standard Time Well one more test down (two for two) 70-210 pro ,70-215 server complete. what's next????? Tim CSent: Monday, October 04, 2004 1:17 PM Nasty" Hey Will, Just wondering if you are still teaching and where. I have a person I work with looking for some instruction and I could not think of a better person to teach him. So please let me know. Thanks Test Completion Mr. Harper, Six months ago I couldn't even spell MCSE. Now I are one. I took my IIS test on Wednesday night. Got an 818. It was hard and I was brain fried when I left the test. Really don't have any info to pass on to everyone. It seemed the test questions were worded in a different language than the study material, had to interpret the questions. Just happy it's over. Tim P, MCSESent: Thursday, November 13, 2003 9:00 AM Subject: RE: just one more problem Thank you very much Mr. Will for the encouraging advice. Yes sir, I am not a quitter, I am going to stay in and if I have to take another class then so be, as long as you are willing to work with me, I will be fine. Ty Subj: mcse Hi Will, I just realized that I didn't let you know how I did on the iis exam. I took it 2weeks ago and failed, but was very close. I then went out of town for a funeral and I took it again 2 days ago and passed with a 763. I also visited Tom Paulk and gave him your name as a reference. Please put in a good word for me. WayneSubj: HELLO Hey Will, It has been a while since I dropped you a line. Hope everything is well with you. There have been some snags at the Oceana site and they are transferring us over to the main campus or to online courses. I have missed a couple of semesters and I am not to happy with the way they handled things, they pretty much left me and others in the dark. I knew that things were going to be bad once you left there. I am going back to sea in about 6 months and I am going to get in as much as I can while I am still on shore duty and hopefully finish up on sea duty. I just wanted to say hello and thanks for keeping me on your email list, I appreciate all the information that you send me. Me and my son are prepping together to take the CCNA test, I will let you know the outcome. Hopefully it will be good news for both of us. Take care Will. James L Subj: MCSA Date: Sun 3/20/2005 1:39 PM Eastern Daylight Time Well, I finally did it. I passed the 70-218 test. I took your advice and
signed up for the free retake just in case. I didn’t need it!! It has been 3
long years. Thanks for all your help and support throughout the journey. 8/30/2006 Sorry to hear you're no longer at NH. I am just getting back to my studies
from a long hiatus due to family issues. I was looking forward to retaking the
Security + class with you. You have a unique ability of explaining the subject
matter in an understandable way (not just reading from the book). 7/13/2006 Also will I am talking up you and your new place of learning.. Maybe if I can
bring you a couple of students ... and if I can ... then the word will spread
through ... like a wildfire.. Looking forward to seeing and talking to you all soon. Joel Hey Will, Sorry it has been so long. A lot has happened this year... I am in the middle of an A.A.S. Program at ... with an Emphasis in Network Security. I was recently offered (and accepted) a position at the Naval Hospital in Portsmouth to work as a Navy Civilian. After the degree is completed (May-ish) I will give you a ring and get some of my certs updated. Thank you for keeping me in mind, and if I come across anyone who may be looking for some I will be sure to send them your way. Thanks again, Eric Sent: Tuesday, September 19, 2006 7:56 PM Subject: one down, one to go Will, |
